Using micromobility dynamometers to test micromobility devices operating in the city
This law would require the NYPD, working with the Department of Transportation, to use special testing devices called dynamometers to check whether e-bikes, e-scooters, and other small motorized vehicles are too powerful or too fast to legally operate on NYC streets. Officers could only perform these tests if they already have a good reason to suspect a device is illegal. The city would also need to publicly report data collected from these tests.
